How Is Photodynamic Therapy Performed?
On the day of the procedure, you will need to bring an umbrella or wide-brimmed hat to protect you from the sun after the treatment. Using an applicator, we will evenly apply the Levulan Kerastick directly to the targeted treatment areas. You will go home while the treatment penetrates the lesions. You should not wash your skin during this time. You should also avoid sun exposure and any other forms of bright light.
When you return, the treated area will be gently rinsed and dried before you are exposed to the BLU-U treatment. This step should take about 17 minutes. After completing the second step, you should continue to protect your head from light for at least 24 hours.
